1970 Time Magazine article on Louis Kelso, “The Man Who Would Make Everybody Richer,” examines Kelso’s “two-factor theory” of economics (later renamed “binary economics”). It opens with economist Milton Friedman’s characterization of Kelso’s ideas as “a crackpot theory.” In response to Friedman’s sneering assertion that these ideas are “Marx stood on its (sic) head.” Kelso responds, “Damn right — and what’s wrong with that?”
